Glacier Tek has developed three revolutionary products for the equine community.
These new products are designed to ensure the thermal comfort of both horse and rider. All three are powered by a patent-pending gelled form of PureTemp's biobased phase change material engineered to maintain a temperature of 64 degrees F. The PCM is contained in a nylon fabric that is soft to the touch, durable and easy to clean.
• Horse comfort blanket: The blanket is designed to be used before or after a ride. It has two functions: cooling and calming. In hot conditions, the phase change material in the blanket absorbs heat from the horse, ensuring thermal comfort. And the blanket's weight -- about 60 pounds -- has a calming effect on many horses. The blanket's unique design targets areas that need cooling the most and allows for easy positioning on the horse. No buckles or straps are needed; a durable fabric covering holds the four-piece blanket in place. The comfort blanket is an effective way to keep your horse calm and comfortable on the trail, at the track or in a transport trailer.
• Rider gilet: Thermal comfort is important to riders as well. Our PCM-powered gilet provides cooling comfort in a concealable form. It can be worn before, during or after a ride.
• Horse leg wrap: Our wraps fit comfortably around the horse's legs and are designed to help prevent injury, speed recovery and improve performance. The PCM-based gel inside maintains a safe and comfortable 64 degrees F. Ice-based wraps are uncomfortably cold and can damage tissue.
Glacier Tek is now testing prototypes of these products on tracks and trails in Minnesota.
