This Vest Saved my Job !

**The Bottom Line:**
If you work in extreme heat or struggle with your body's ability to regulate temperature, the Glacier Tek Sport Cooling Vest is an absolute game-changer. As a mobile locksmith working out of the Southern Nevada/Las Vegas area—where the back of a work van can reach up to 130°F—this vest has made my job not only manageable, but possible.

**Performance & The Mobile Cooler Setup (5/5)**

I've previously tried evaporative cooling vests, but they are entirely dependent on humidity and fail miserably during the Southern Nevada monsoon season (not to mention the risk of ending up looking like you had an accidental spill if they aren’t wrung out properly).

The Glacier Tek vest itself utilizes phase-change cooling packs that maintain a comfortable, steady temperature (around 59–60°F), completely avoiding aggressive ice-burn. However, because I am a mobile technician away from a standard refrigerator for long stretches, I rely on a specialized heavy-duty setup:

* **The Engel Heavy-Duty Cooler:** I bring along a heavy-duty, roto-molded cooler from Engel (who pioneered the roto-molded cooler design long before it was popularized by brands like Yeti).
* **The Ice Pack Setup:** Inside the Engel cooler, I keep aggressive replacement ice packs that chill down to **19°F** in a standard freezer overnight.
* **Rotation & Endurance:** By utilizing three full sets of ice packs and actively rotating them through the cooler throughout the day, the system continuously recharges on the fly. This setup easily delivers **9 to 12 hours** of reliable cooling power, and can stretch to **14 to 15 hours** on exceptionally long shifts.

The cooling technology is flawless, and I no longer arrive home feeling completely drained and physically wasted from the desert heat.

**Comfort & Usability**

The vest is comfortable, fits well under daily workflow constraints, and is something I wear constantly—even indoors. The only minor maintenance note is related to clothing choices: because I wear technical fabrics to stay dry in the desert, condensation from the packs combined with residual body oils and soap residue can occasionally cause a bit of bacteria growth over time. Using a dedicated technical fabric wash easily solves this issue by stripping out the buildup.

**Pro-Tip / Modification: The "No Ballistic Vest" Fix**

One issue worth noting is that the vest looks tactical enough that random people and customers frequently mistook it for a ballistic body armor vest. To clear up any confusion and avoid awkward questions, I bought a bright yellow patch with black text that says **"COOLING VEST"** (easily found on Amazon, eBay, or from a uniform supplier) and had it sewn onto the front. It changed everything—people are now genuinely curious about how it works rather than thinking I'm a nut wearing tactical gear.

**Bonus Customer Service Perk**

While it isn't advertised on their website, if you contact Glacier Tek directly, you can order a vest shell separately from the cooling packs. I ended up buying a second shell in a different color for casual wear, allowing me to stay cool while running errands or going out during punishing record-breaking summer heatwaves.

**Final Verdict**
I only wish I had known about this vest sooner. Paired with a proper roto-molded cooler and rotation strategy, it is a massive win, an essential tool for extreme environments, and easily worth every penny

It's an excellent vest!

I run the elevator in our football stadium. No air. Can't keep the door open. Crowded with people. I'm in there for 5 hours! Hot? Yes!
I thought I would have to quit my job. Then I received my ice vest. Ahhh! I was cool and comfortable. This is a product that does exactly what it's supposed to do. Just awesome. So glad I found Glaciertek. Thank you ❤️

It works

The vest works great. The vest is snug, as it should be, but makes it difficult for me to get on. Old bones just aren’t as flexible & I’m in my 70’s. it does allow me to do things outside I normally would not be able to do, which is why I purchased it. I would highly recommend it for heat sensitive, or active people working in a hot environment.

The Perfect Solution for Extreme Heat

The Perfect Solution for Extreme Heat
Product: Glacier Tek Sports Cooling Vest Bundle Set (with two sets of 8 cooling packs)

As a journeyman locksmith with over 25 years of experience, I spend a lot of time working out of the back of my van and at customer sites in the intense Las Vegas summer heat. I also have some medical concerns that make staying cool an absolute requirement for me to continue doing my job safely.

Previously, I relied on evaporative cooling vests that need to be soaked in water. While they did help a bit, they are nowhere near as comfortable or functional as this Sports Cooling Vest from Glacier Tek.

I purchased the bundle set, which includes two sets of eight cooling packs. I initially bought the vest in the Pewter color, but I found it looked a little too tactical for my day-to-day work. I ended up getting another one in Burgundy, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Performance & Recharging
The vest keeps me consistently cool and allows me to focus on my repairs without the constant worry of overheating. For me, a set of cooling packs lasts a solid three hours. Having the bundle with two sets is incredibly helpful because I can swap them out seamlessly on the job. The used packs recharge quickly and easily in my heavy-duty Engel cooler alongside a dry ice replacement pack.

Pros:

Highly Effective: Far superior to traditional water-soaked evaporative vests.

Continuous Cooling: The bundle includes two sets of packs, perfect for rotating during long shifts.

Easy to Recharge: Packs freeze back up quickly in a heavy-duty cooler on the go.

Comfortable: Allows for full mobility while working.

Cons:

The Pewter color can look a bit overly tactical, but the Burgundy option is a great alternative.

Bottom Line: So far, this vest is the absolute perfect solution for me. Highly recommended for anyone working in demanding, high-heat environments.

Works, but cumbersome and not very comfortable for smaller gals

This product works but is optimistically marketed as one-size fits most/all. I'm well within "normal" size range of women my age at 5'2" and 120lbs and this vest is comically too big on me. The velcro straps have to be brought in so far that they they cover the zipper. The velcro edges are very stiff and sharp, so they cut my skin whenever I brush against them with my arm or at the shoulder/neck area. I'll have to see if I can rig something up to prevent that. I do wish Glacier Tek would consider making a version for the smaller gals. Some of us have trouble with temperature regulation too.
